As 2018 draws to a close, we look back on some of the most exciting and perceptive News & Insights of the year!

1. Thought Leadership: CRUX Insight – Claims and Dispute Causation
HKA launched CRUX, its integrated research programme. CRUX provides valuable insight into claims and dispute causation from major capital projects around the world.
The aim of CRUX is to better understand claims and dispute causation and to reinvigorate the debate about how best to reduce the prevalence of disputes across the engineering and construction (E&C) industry.
2. News: HKA Named Construction Expert Witness Firm of the Year at Who’s Who Legal Awards 2018
HKA was delighted to be named Construction Expert Witness Firm of the Year at the Who’s Who Legal Awards 2018.
The event took place at Plaisterers’ Hall in the City of London, UK on Tuesday, 8 May 2018 where over 250 guests, including some of the very best lawyers and experts from around the world, gathered to celebrate individual and company awards.
3. Article: Making an Effective and Persuasive Case to a Dispute Board by Simon Longley
Partner Simon Longley wrote an article drawing upon his experience of some 100 referrals made to dispute adjudication boards under the FIDIC forms of Contract and to an adjudicator under the NEC forms of contract. In this detailed piece, he outlines eight key considerations for making an effective case to a dispute board.
4. News: HKA Tops the List of World’s Leading Construction Expert Witness Practice
Further to our success at the Who’s Who Legal awards, HKA saw 31 of its specialist delay, quantum and technical analysts listed in Who’s Who Legal (WWL) Construction 2018: Expert Witnesses analysis.
5. Thought Leadership Article: The Evolution of Collaboration in Building Construction, Disputes and Expert Services by Gerry Brannigan
Partner Gerry Brennigan wrote an insightful piece for Who’s Who Legal on the future of disputes in building construction. Drawing upon Dame Judith Hackitt’s independent review of building regulations and fire safety, Gerry explored how the expert witness market is evolving to match new, more collaborative project landscapes.

Partner John H. McTyre, who has over 35 years of experience in construction, compares Impacted As- Planned, Time Impact Analysis and Planned v.
