HKA was proud to present the inaugural Singapore Expert Forum on Thursday, 14 September 2023.

Shamila Neelakandan, Construction Claims and Expert Services Lead for Asia Pacific, Benjamin Highfield, Regional CEO of Asia Pacific, and the Asia Pacific team were delighted to welcome clients and partners to our expert forum, where we explored how parties can get the most from their experts. Guiding this discussion were our experts, each with extensive accreditation and recognition by Who’s Who Legal, collectively bringing forth decades of experience spanning Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa and Europe.

Moderated by Michael Tonkin, the panel discussion featured damages expert Jonathan Ellis, engineering expert Dr. Kourosh Kayvani, quantum expert Maximilian Benz and delay expert Andrei Soltan. Tapping on their past project experiences, the panellists exchanged war stories, lessons learned and tips on dispute resolution. They discussed:

• Risks in the Design and Construct method for delivering construction projects and how to minimise disputes
• Failure to address localised delay and quantum effects
• Early expert engagement
• AI as a disruptor in the disputes world
• The difference between commercial damages, quantum experts and accounting experts
• The fallout from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on large infrastructure projects.
