Rahul Ratakonda joins HKA as a Director and is a structural engineer with over 15 years of experience evaluating structural performance and investigating failures for insurance claims and litigation matters. Rahul provides engineering consulting services to developers, property owners, insurance companies, contractors, and manufacturers. His experience includes investigations of construction defects, design defects, adjacent construction damage, and structural failures and performing damage assessments following natural disasters and fire events.

Rahul has testified as an engineering expert in the State of New York Supreme Court (Kings County) and was on the 2022 New York City Building Code committee.

Prior to joining HKA, Rahul held senior positions at Thornton Tomasetti and Exponent and has published articles and papers in industry conference proceedings and magazines. He earned his Master of Science in Engineering (MSE) in Civil Engineering from the University of Michigan and his B. Tech in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). He is a licensed Professional Engineer in California, Florida, and New York.

William Maloney joins HKA as an Associate Director and has more than 20 years of experience in forensic engineering and project management. William’s forensic engineering experience includes performing hundreds of forensic investigations. He has conducted on-site structural investigations and forensic analysis of residential, commercial, and industrial properties, including roof inspections, plan reviews, document reviews, and visual inspections of various buildings to determine the origin and cause of failure and extent of damage and repair issues. William has extensive experience using engineering principles, methods, codes, and industry standards to analyze data and determine the cause, origin, and extent of damage and failure.

William also spent nine years as a consultant drilling engineer, leading and building teams of up to 130 people simultaneously to drill, complete, stimulate, and work over oil and gas wells for clients such as Aramco, PERTAMINA, ESSO, Chevron, and MEO Australia Ltd. In addition to being responsible for all technical and logistical aspects of drilling in remote international locations, he managed multi-faceted projects with budgets of more than $100M, with zero percent margin for error.

A licensed Professional Engineer in several states, including Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Georgia, North Carolina, and Louisiana, William has held several forensic engineer positions at Grindley Williams Engineering, U.S. Forensic, and Donan Engineering. He is a U.S. Army veteran and earned a Bachelor of Science – Civil Engineering from Auburn University.
