Alan Currie, Partner, Forensic Technical Expert, Europe
Alan is a Chartered Engineer with over 30 years of industry experience. He has been appointed as a technical expert and assisted named experts on numerous occasions. Alan has supported clients on disputes on multi-million-dollar projects in the power and utilities and buildings sectors. He specialises in mentoring, managing and directing the work of many technical experts covering a wide range of engineering disciplines working predominantly on international arbitrations.
Caryn Fuller, Partner, Quantum, Delay & Disruption and Forensic Technical Expert, Americas
Caryn is a Civil Engineer with over 20 years of experience. She has been appointed as an expert and assisted the named expert on numerous occasions. Caryn has been cross-examined in arbitration, including giving concurrent evidence (hot-tubbing), and has assisted on disputes for multi-billion dollar projects. Her expert work covers standard of care, delay, quantum, and technical disciplines for sectors ranging from buildings and infrastructure to industrial, power and utilities, mining and minerals, and oil and gas.

Chris Paterson, Partner, Europe
Chris is responsible for HKA’s business development across the construction and energy sectors with a particular focus on expert witness appointments. He works with lawyers and clients to fully understand their requirements to provide them with the firm’s most applicable and experienced construction dispute experts covering forensic technical, quantum, damages and delay and disruption. He has a successful and proven track record in securing large scale international disputes that require multidisciplinary expert teams and has been recognised by the Legal 500. Chris is responsible for several key client relationships, including many of the leading construction and energy law firms in the UK.
Colin Russell, Partner, Quantum and Delay & Disruption Expert, Middle East
Colin is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a Member of the Association of Project Management with over 29 years of experience in the construction industry. He has extensive experience in quantum analysis and has been appointed as an expert witness on numerous occasions and has provided independent expert determinations in relation to quantum issues. Colin has worked on a wide variety of projects, including conference centres, new build and refurbishment of hotels, residential, wastewater treatment, oil- and gas-fired power stations, airports, railways, metros and highways throughout the United Kingdom, Middle East and Europe.
Daniel Jackson, Partner, Quantum Expert, Middle East
Daniel is a testifying quantum expert with approaching 20 years of experience in the construction and engineering industries. He is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, has a bachelor’s degree in Law and is an RICS Accredited Expert Witness. Daniel has been appointed as a quantum expert on numerous occasions in arbitration, litigation, and adjudication. He has been cross-examined in international arbitration and has acted in a number of high-profile matters with disputed values in excess of US$200m. Daniel’s expertise comprises quantum of cost, damages and disruption in disputes in the power, rail, oil and gas, buildings and infrastructure sectors.
Dimitrios Tousiakis, Partner, Delay and Disruption Expert, Middle East
Dimitrios is a testifying Delay Expert for construction disputes. He has given written and oral evidence during cross-examination in domestic and international arbitrations on numerous occasions. Dimitrios is a Chartered Civil Engineer and RICS Accredited Expert Witness with 15 years of construction industry experience on a range of projects including high-rise buildings, airports, healthcare, rail and oil and gas. His expertise includes the design and construction of steel structures and the simplification of complex matters utilising intuitive visual representation to support his clear delay analysis methodology.
Euan Geddes, Partner, Forensic Technical Expert, Europe
Euan is a Chartered Architect with more than 25 years of construction industry experience. He is registered as an expert witness by both the RIBA and RIAS. His work covers different dispute resolution arenas including litigation, adjudication, and arbitration. He has been appointed as an expert architect on multiple occasions and has testified in litigation. Euan provides expert opinion on architectural matters including building defects, professional negligence and contractual matters. He is also an accredited adjudicator. Euan is the current Chair of the Scottish Building Contracts Committee (SBCC), a Director of the Architects’ Professional Examination Authority in Scotland (APEAS) and a member of the Investigations Panel of the Architects Registration Board (ARB).
Hamish Clark, Partner, Forensic Technical Expert, Europe
Hamish is a Chartered Architect with more than 35 years of experience as a practising architect. He has acted as an expert architect on multiple occasions and has been a member of a team of experts on several further occasions. He has testified in litigation and international arbitrations including providing concurrent evidence. Hamish provides expert opinion on architectural matters to clients in the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and Oceania. His expert appointments include matters associated with resource infrastructure projects, transport infrastructure projects, light industrial, commercial, hospitality projects, social housing projects including residential towers, luxury residential developments, and heritage buildings.
Harry Colledge, Partner, Europe
Harry has dual honours in Business Management and French, and over 20 years of experience providing senior level professional services supporting companies to expand their presence in the Built Environment. He has worked to develop client accounts in Transport, Infrastructure, Construction, Engineering, Oil and Gas in Europe, the Americas, Africa, Asia and Oceania which builds on his earlier work as a business consultant in strategy and business change. He has deployed significant capability in business strategy, senior leadership, stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and project management. Since joining HKA, Harry has also been closely involved with the firm’s CRUX research work, to build recognition of our standing as a global leader in Dispute Resolution.
John Baxter, Partner, Quantum, Delay and Disruption and Forensic Technical Expert, Americas
John is an Engineer with more than 20 years of heavy civil and construction industry experience. He acts as an expert in delay, quantum and technical matters and has been appointed on seven occasions. John has testified in arbitrations as a damage and scheduling expert regarding the construction of schools, community centres, government storage facilities, pipeline projects, residential construction, and light rail construction. He has experience in a variety of sectors including infrastructure, oil and gas, rail, health, technology and education.

John is an MBA with nearly 25 years of experience in business development, marketing, and strategy with global professional service companies. Josh Simpson, Partner, Quantum, Government Contracting, Forensic Accounting & Commercial Damages Expert, Americas
Josh is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner with extensive experience related to the investigation and resolution of business disputes, primarily related to government contracts, commercial damages, and utilities practice areas. Josh has led or assisted in the preparation of expert reports and subsequent expert testimony in federal court, arbitration, and mediation proceedings. He has consulted on behalf of Fortune 500 companies and others, including government contractors, business owners, consumer product companies, and electric and water utilities.

Karen is a Chartered Civil Engineer with over 25 years of experience in the construction and engineering industries. She has been appointed as delay expert on many occasions regarding building and power-related project disputes and has also assisted the named expert numerous times. Karen has worked on expert appointments related to delay and disruption claims regarding civil engineering and building contracts from power plants in Qatar and industrial facilities in Australia to numerous buildings and infrastructure projects across Europe, the UK, and Africa.
Kevin Salvagni, Partner, Quantum and Forensic Technical Expert
Kevin is a Licensed General Contractor with over 35 years of construction industry experience. He has acted as an expert on numerous occasions in both quantum and technical matters. Kevin has provided expert testimony in both Federal and State courts as well as in multiple depositions, arbitrations, and mediations. He has supported clients in disputes across a broad range of speciality interiors and building envelope related issues. Kevin’s background in general contracting includes project management, program management, both detailed and conceptual estimating, quality control, and property loss assessment.
Dr Kourosh Kayvani, Partner, Forensic Technical Expert, Oceania
Kourosh is a Chartered Professional Engineer with over 30 years of experience. He has been appointed as a technical expert on numerous occasions. Kourosh has been cross-examined in litigation and has delivered expert reports for disputed projects and structural failures in long-span roofs, tall buildings, and special projects. He has played leading roles in the design and delivery of many complex projects across Australia, New Zealand, Asia, the UK, the Middle East, and Africa. He is a Fellow of Engineers Australia and an Adjunct Professor at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, UNSW. Kourosh has extensive executive leadership experience.

Mike is a Certified Practising Project Director qualified in Project and Enterprise Management. Leading Infrastructure Delivery services across Australia he has more than 16 years of practical experience in project delivery and the detailed analysis of project performance. He is highly skilled in guiding multidisciplinary teams in major construction and infrastructure environments, having represented Departments of Government, delivery partners and consultancies across some of the largest infrastructure projects in the world.
Paul Cacchioli, Partner, Quantum Expert, Europe
Paul is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with more than 35 years of construction industry experience within sectors such as transport infrastructure, healthcare, renewables, hospitality, commercial buildings, data centres, and marine in the UK, Europe, Far East, Middle East, and Africa. He has been appointed as a quantum expert on numerous occasions in various forums including litigation, arbitration, adjudication, and mediation hearings. Paul has also frequently chaired Dispute Avoidance Panels for major infrastructure clients.
Tim Harwin, Partner, Delay Expert, Africa
Tim is a testifying Delay Expert with 20 years of construction industry experience. He comes from a Civil Engineering background and has been cross-examined as an Expert Witness in Arbitration proceedings, including giving concurrent evidence (hot-tubbing). Tim is currently engaged on multiple Arbitrations in Africa and has extensive experience in the preparation of expert witness and independent reports for adjudication and other forms of dispute resolution. Tom is a Forensic Accountant and CPA with 20 years of experience across multiple industries. He has acted as an assistant to the named expert on several occasions. Tom helps government contractors navigate complex government contracting compliance rules and regulations. Tom has provided accounting, auditing, and advisory support to government contractors in the areas of business systems compliance, DCAA/DCMA audit support, cost and pricing matters, and indirect rate analysis. He has led or assisted in several investigations related to alleged False Claims Act violations, assessing compliance with regulations and statutes, quantifying damages, and assessing the appropriateness of business system practices.
Trevor Butler, Partner, Forensic Technical Expert, Europe
Trevor is an Engineer and a Compliance and Risk Management specialist with over 35 years of oil and gas industry experience. He has been appointed as a technical expert on seven occasions. Trevor has been cross-examined in arbitration and has provided expert opinion on various oil and gas and energy projects across Europe, Asia and Australia. His expert appointments include matters involving failure investigations and construction and technical compliance related disputes on projects. Trevor has also been engaged to provide expert opinion on several matters relating to global ‘Oilfield Best Practices’.
