HKA Partner Greg Bingham endowed scholarship in government procurement
20th February 2023
HKA Partner Greg Bingham has generously endowed a scholarship at George Washington (GW) Law for students interested in government procurement and accounting. As a member of the Government Contracts Advisory Council at GW Law and HKA’s Government Contracts Group, he is keenly aware of the importance of supporting and fostering students’ interests in these intertwined disciplines.
Attorneys do not need to be certified public accountants to succeed…they can provide value to their clients with a high-level understanding of general accounting and business principles. Attorneys should remember the adage – perfect is the enemy of good.
Greg Bingham, Partner and Co-leader of HKA’s Government Contracts Group
At HKA, Greg has seen first-hand how today’s lawyers are facing increasingly complex legal and business issues, particularly in the area of government contracts. He believes, as it is often said, that accounting is the language of business. Thus, Greg is convinced that students graduating from GW Law’s Government Procurement Law Program will provide better services to their clients – whether government agencies or contractors – if they are knowledgeable of basic accounting and business operations.
“Attorneys do not need to be certified public accountants to succeed…they can provide value to their clients with a high-level understanding of general accounting and business principles. Attorneys should remember the adage – perfect is the enemy of good,” he says.
Greg hopes his scholarship will inspire future leaders to consider and pursue a career in government procurement law!
