Syed Ali is a Civil Engineer with over 15 years of industry experience. He has been appointed as a delay and quantum expert on multiple occasions.
Syed has acted as lead expert in litigation, mediation, and alternative dispute resolution as well as assisting the named expert in numerous arbitrations and mediations. He has worked on a variety of complex delay and quantum issues, authored expert reports, and undertaken rebuttals to opposing experts, for projects with disputed values of up to $20 million.
Syed has vast experience in schedule management and monitoring, and in development and implementation of project control plans. He has developed and maintained integrated baseline schedules, recovery schedules, and acceleration programs on major projects in infrastructure, oil and gas, marine, power generation, transportation, buildings, wastewater, and industrial plants for projects of up to $5 billion.
Syed also specialises in cost analysis, performance measurement, and productivity analysis, including earned value management. He delivers expert reports on complex delay analysis, delay damages assessment, change orders analyses, disruption analysis, and schedule assessments.
Syed is a Project Management Professional, Planning and Scheduling Professional, and Certified Cost Professional, and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Society of Construction Law, and the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering. He holds a master’s in construction law and arbitration.
