Cathy Joshi is a Chartered Civil Engineer with more than 25 years of construction industry experience. She has been appointed as a technical expert on eight occasions.

Cathy has been instructed on high-value arbitration cases involving structural, civil, architectural, fit-out and procedural disputes. She has provided input, as part of an expert team, regarding the design and construction a wide variety of building types and uses and has acted as named expert on an infrastructure project valued in excess of US$200 billion.
Cathy has an extensive background in both the design and project management of high-profile and large-scale, complex projects across the Middle East, Europe, North America and Asia; ranging from buildings and utilities to immersed tube tunnels and causeways. She has vast experience of design and construction processes from feasibility through to project completion, including contract formation, administration, quality assurance, and contract law.
Cathy’s expertise includes providing opinion on alleged defects in materials and workmanship, including structural and fit-out works. She combines a track record of success in early dispute resolution with independent investigation and reporting on issues of quality, inadequate coordination between disciplines, non-conformance to design specifications and technical defects.
Cathy is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Association for Project Management. She holds an LLM in Construction Law and Arbitration and has particular experience the suite of FIDIC contracts, as amended for the Middle East markets, and bespoke local government contracts in the UAE.
