Jonathan Palmer is a Chartered Engineer with more than 35 years of experience of the geotechnical aspects of civil and structural engineering. He has acted as a technical expert on over 25 occasions.
Jon has been cross-examined in both litigation and international arbitration and has been providing expert support, including in mediation, since the 1990s. Under direct instruction, and assisting the named expert, he has provided advice and expert witness statements for claims including unforeseen ground conditions, subsidence of residential and commercial facilities, earthworks, slope stability, foundations and retaining structures.
Jon’s experience covers all areas of project development, from site investigation through to design, construction, and design management during construction. He has acted as project director, managing multi-disciplinary engineering design teams on development and re-generation projects, and has extensive technical and management consultancy expertise.
Jon specialises in geotechnical engineering and engineering geology and has worked across the UK, Europe, the Far East, the United Arab Emirates, Central America and the Caribbean. He has routinely undertaken geotechnical forensic investigations of distressed buildings for institutional landowners and property managers.
Jonathan Palmer is a fellow of the Geological Society, a member of the British Geotechnical Society and of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining. He has received certification through the Legal Experience Training Advanced Professional Award in Expert Witness Evidence (LETAPAEWE) and has been published on numerous occasions regarding varied aspects of his expertise.
