Jon Bird is a Chartered Civil and Structural Engineer with over 25 years of experience. He has been appointed as a technical expert on more than 10 occasions.
Jon has testified as a witness of fact, prepared written expert evidence, and been in engaged in expert meetings for a variety of arbitration and adjudication proceedings. He has acted as an expert for disputes with values in excess of $400 million for large-scale industrial and commercial projects, as well as smaller residential projects.
Jon has an extensive background in both the design and project management of diverse projects. These range from buildings and utilities to basements, retaining walls and infrastructure. His sector experience covers residential, industrial, commercial, retail, rail buildings, healthcare, blue light, waste management, hotels, education and higher education, temporary works, refurbishment, and restoration. He has worked across the lifecycle of projects and their design and construction processes, from feasibility through to project completion.
Jon specialises in the assessment of structural issues affecting the delivery of complex projects. His wide-ranging knowledge of materials and construction techniques, including temporary works, enables him to holistically assess the impact of structural decisions on a project.
Jon is a fellow, a chief examiner, and examinations panel member of the Institution of Structural Engineers, a fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, and a reviewer for their professional review. He holds an advanced professional award in expert witness evidence.
