HKA, one of the world’s leading providers of consulting, expert and advisory services, is delighted to announce two executive appointments in the Middle East and Africa region.

Tom Kapapa joins as Operations Director to lead HKA’s business in Qatar. He has over 20 years of experience in civil and building engineering projects in the United Kingdom, Middle East, Africa and Asia. Tom’s experience spans a wide range of market sectors including major city developments, high-rise construction, hospitals, roads and rail infrastructure, oil and gas, and water and wastewater treatment plants.

He has vast knowledge of all types of construction contracts and advises employers and contractors on commercial and procurement issues, claims avoidance and claims management, as well as formal disputes and dispute resolution. Tom is regularly appointed as an expert witness providing expert testimony on matters of quantum and sits as an arbitrator and mediator.

Tom was previously at Quantum Global Solutions where he was Operations and Technical Director based in Qatar. He holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering and Commercial Management, an MSc (Eng) in Construction Management and an MBA in Construction. Tom is also a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Husam Gawish, previously responsible for HKA’s Operations in Qatar, moves into the role of Head of Regional Business Development for the Middle East and Africa. He will be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities and expanding our presence in the Middle East and Africa. Husam will lead on managing key client relationships and further developing relationships with new and existing clients.

Husam has over 20 years of management, engineering and business development experience in the construction industry, notably in buildings and infrastructure. He joined HKA in 2014 having spent more than 17 years with international project consultants, High-Point Rendel.  Husam holds a BEng in Civil Engineering from University College London and an MSc in Concrete Structures from Imperial College London.
