Now in its fifth year, this three-day event features two days of informative programming on June 3 and 4, preceded by a Gala Welcome Reception at the Art Gallery of Ontario on June 2. Prior to lunch on Monday, June 3, HKA’s Lorna Tardif will participate in the session presented by Arbitral Women, which will feature demonstrations presented by women arbitral experts. In the first demonstration, Lauren Tomasich of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP will act as counsel and Katie Gosnell of Kroll will be the expert as they demonstrate how to prepare an expert for arbitration. The second includes Maureen Littlejohn of Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP acting as counsel and Lorna of HKA serving as the expert while they practice expert preparation techniques from counsel’s perspective. Becky Seidler of KPMG Canada and Tara Singh of FTI Consulting will moderate the panels and conduct the debriefs. Each interactive demonstration will provide examples of what to do and what not to do.
This year’s CanArbWeek brings a variety of discussions and presentations on arbitral topics from industry thought leaders such as the ADR Institute of Canada (ADRIC), Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Canada (CIArb Canada), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Canada, International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR) Canada, and Young Canadian Arbitration Practitioners (YCAP), among others.
