2024 Construction Law Institute 

HKA’s John Paolin, Steve Dines, and Seyran Celik will be in Orlando from March 21–23 for the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar’s 2024 Construction Law Institute. This four-day seminar kicks off with a Golf Tournament and Welcome Reception on March 21, followed by a variety of plenary sessions on March 22 and 23.  

Seyran is moderating a one-hour plenary session on “AI’s Impact on Construction and Construction Lawyers” on March 22 at 9:45 AM ET. Panelists include Leslie King O’Neal, Kylan Greenville, and Sharnette Tucker. This roundtable discussion will focus on how adopting new technology such as AI can improve the safety, efficiency, and quality of construction as well as present new risks and challenges (both practical and legal). The panel will also discuss best practices and lessons learned.  

Construction Law Institute, the preeminent annual legal conference for practitioners of construction law and related fields, is where construction lawyers, industry consultants, and sponsors from around the state gather to learn advanced legal issues and techniques and meet like-minded practitioners. Multiple plenary sessions cover hot topics confronting construction law practitioners, legislative and legal updates, and practice pointers to help maintain the high standards of legal administration in this complex area of law.

Seyran Celik, Partner 

Seyran is an appointed engineering expert, construction claims advisor, and forensic schedule analyst who has provided expert services for matters in arbitration, litigation, and mediation. She has significant project management and design experience as a geotechnical engineer, with expertise in the analysis of shallow and deep foundations, slope stabilization, ground improvement, and roadways. In addition to her professional responsibilities at HKA, Seyran is the Past Chair of the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) Committee for the Americas region.
