2024 Intellectual Property Law Symposium

HKA Partner Julie Knox will be speaking at the Northern District Practice Program’s 2024 Intellectual Property Law Symposium on May 23 in San Francisco. Joining her on panel will be Denise De Mory of Bunsow De Mory LLP, Matthias Kamber of Paul Hastings, and Nikki Vo of Meta covering issues related to the strategy and mechanics of trying intellectual property matters, including best practices for working with expert witnesses. Magistrate Judge Peter Kang of the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, will be moderating the discussion. 

Julie Knox, Partner 

Julie Knox is a forensic accountant and commercial damages consultant with over 25 years of experience. Julie has testified in cases before federal and state courts and in domestic and international arbitrations. She has acted as an expert for disputes regarding commercial damages and valuation, intellectual property (IP), and forensic accounting and investigations across the financial, technology, sports and entertainment, and industrial sectors. 

Julie has consulted on financial reporting matters and business operations; conducted financial statement audits of companies and government agencies; and performed forensic accounting analysis, funds tracing, and financial reporting analysis on behalf of companies, boards of directors, and special committees. She has also provided analysis and expert opinion regarding lost profits, unjust enrichment, reasonable royalties, and restitution resulting from breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, anti-trust, unfair competition, IP infringement, and trade secret misappropriation. 

Julie is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Certified Public Accountant (California and Virginia) and is Certified in Financial Forensics. She has presented to the AICPA, CalCPA, and university groups and law firms addressing accounting and economic damages issues.
